Ficomontanino Noble Kara 2020

‘Noble Kara’ claims its rightful place in the proud tradition of “real” rosé wines—rosés made from fully ripe, healthy grapes trusted to ferment on their own and allowed to express a natural depth of color, and flavor. Pure Sangiovese from three different parcels on the property, this snazzy wine spends 24 hours macerating on skins before pressing and fermentation in stainless steel. Morello cherry on the nose with a little graphite, cross-cut juicy, tart strawberry fruit meets forest floor. A cherry and black tea palate with a touch of tannin makes for a serious, food-friendly rosato. Sophisticated but unpretentious.

Mayacamas Chardonnay 2019

One of our favorite wines.

Made by winemaker Braiden Albrecht and consulting winemaker Andy Erickson, this beautifully layered and complex white is impressive and profound, profuse flavors of peach, pineapple and pear. The fruit character is compliments the salty stone and hints of jasmine. Fresh and exotic aromas of passion fruit, lychee, coconut flakes and seabreeze. The tropical perfume carries through the texturally taught, medium-bodied frame with its zippy acidity to a crisp saline finish. A singular expression of mountainside Napa Chardonnay.

Domaine Frederik Sornin Morgon 2020

Morgon is another renowned Cru Beaujolais, famous for its age-worthy wines that combine violets, fresh earth, black plums and grippy tannin structure that is just right. Great depth and flavors of black cherry, bramble, cinnamon stick with hints of dried pepper. A total win with roasted chicken or burgers.

Aspriu Pardas 2013

From Catalunya region of Northeast Spain, the daddy of Cab Sauv brings the power with Cabernet Franc.

Intense cherry red in colour, with fine violet flecks plus abundant and dense tears fall down the glass. On the nose, the intense and powerful notes of red fruit are fresh, ripe and candied. This is enhanced by toasty aromas provided by the oak. Fleshy, sweet and tasty on the palate, the wine expands to show ripe fruit, well balanced notes of tobacco and hints of fine sherry. The ripe tannins lead to a long finish that delivers concentrated dried black fruit and herbal spice.

Heumann Villany Franc 2016

This Hungarian Cabernet Franc is ruby garnet in the glass with aromas of blackberry, bramble and red pepper. It has aromas of cranberry, pomegranate, red raspberry and black cherry. Dark bright purple in the glass, on the palate is cassis plus a hint of dark chocolate and cocoa. Well-integrated acidity and great structure with finely grained tannins. Full bodied yet elegant and fruity wine with a very long finish. Great potential for further development.

Giacomo Fenocchio Barolo 2017

Rich bouquet with hints of blueberries, dried roses, licorice and sour cherries. Densely structured with a full, complexity that only Barolo can deliver. It is an elegant wine with firm tannins and great acidity that will become velvety and graceful with age. This wine is generous and bold. The finish is long and lingering. Sweet strawberry aromas with dried flowers and orange zest. Full-bodied with a round, chewy palate and lots of sour cherries, tar and roses. If you can wait- cellar this for 2 more years or allow for a full, long decant.
