Two kinds of evening
Mine, and WSET’s
Both are in the list above. They’re bought in different places, which is worth knowing before you click.
ZenWine classes
My own evenings — blind tastings, champagne, wine and food. Usually 90 minutes, always relaxed, and you book a seat right here on this site.
WSET qualifications
The real thing — internationally recognised wine qualifications, taught by me here in Tacoma. I hold the WSET Diploma, one step below Master of Wine. Enrolment goes through WSET rather than this site, so that button takes you to them.
If it’s your first one
You don’t need to know anything
Most people who walk into a wine class are quietly worried they’ll be the least knowledgeable person in the room. Somebody has to be, and it genuinely doesn’t matter — I teach to whoever turns up.
- No experience needed. If you can say whether you liked something, you have everything required.
- Coming alone is normal. Plenty do, and nobody sits by themselves for long.
- Spitting is optional. So is finishing anything.
- You’ll take notes home. Written in plain language, not wine-speak.
- You’ll leave able to describe a wine without saying “I like it” — which is the whole point.

Nothing that fits?
Have your own, any night you like
If the dates don’t work, or you’d rather be in your own kitchen with your own people, I’ll come to you. Same wine, same teaching, your calendar.
Be first to hear
Classes fill by word of mouth
Most seats go before a class is announced anywhere. Tell me what you’d come to and I’ll let you know when it’s on the calendar.
